The holidays, as with everything else, look a little different this year. You might not have your normal holiday plans, but that doesn’t mean we still can’t celebrate the season. I’ve heard some people say that they didn’t know if they should decorate this year if nobody is coming to their house. I understand that viewpoint, but I had the opposite thought! I thought that I need to decorate extra this year since I’m not going anywhere else! So this past weekend, I cranked up my favorite Christmas tunes and put my tree up. I had fun while doing it, thinking of all the years as a kid decorating our tree with my family, and I can definitely say that looking at my decorated tree is an instant mood booster 🙂
Instead of dwelling on all of the things we can not do this year, let’s try to focus on what we still CAN do.
We can still…
Decorate our homes.
Watch our favorite holiday movies.
Listen to Christmas music.
Bake our favorite cookies and treats.
Make our Christmas dinners.
Donate to those less fortunate.
Exchange gifts with family and friends.
Talk to our family and friends by phone or video call and even play games.
Make time for prayer or reflection.
Have holiday spirit!
It’s OK to be sad that the season is different this year, but I encourage you to keep all of these positive activities in mind and see if doing some of them helps bring you some of that holiday cheer! Happy holidays to all!
