Low Cal Summer Cocktails

Picture yourself sitting on the patio, by the pool, on the beach or wherever your favorite spot is for relaxing during the summer, what’s your beverage of choice? If it happens to be some kind of delicious cocktail, we’re on the same page! I’m all about a good summer cocktail, but let’s be honest, a lot of our favorite cocktails can tend to be high in calories and sugar. Of course it’s perfectly fine to enjoy your favorite cocktail from time to time, but if you find yourself wanting an adult beverage a little more frequently in the summer, you should try choosing a lower calorie, lower sugar option. There are tons of recipes out there for “healthier” cocktails, but here are a few that I thought sounded delicious and can’t wait to try!

Raspberry Peach Prosecco Punch

  • 1 bottle Prosecco
  • 1 cup peach juice
  • 1 cup raspberry seltzer
  • 6 dashes bitters
  • Fresh or frozen raspberries for garnish

Combine all the ingredients together, and serve on the rocks. Garnish with raspberry.

Makes enough for the whole crew!

Grapefruit Margarita

  • 1-3/4 oz. Riazul silver tequila
  • 0.5 oz. grapefruit juice
  • 1 oz. lime juice
  • 0.5 oz. agave

Combine all the ingredients, add ice, and shake in a cocktail shaker. Strain over fresh ice in a glass with a salted and sugared rim, and garnish with a grilled grapefruit.

Umbrella

  • Half a cucumber
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup
  • 1 oz lemon juice
  • 2 oz green chile vodka

Cut cucumber into thin slices, and muddle three to five slices with your simple syrup in a shaker. Add lemon juice and vodka, shake well, then strain over ice into a beautiful glass. Garnish with three fanned cucumber slices.

Raspberry Lime Mojito

  • 0.5 oz. fresh lime juice
  • Handful of fresh or frozen raspberries
  • 1 tsp. superfine sugar
  • 3 mint leaves (more for garnish)
  • 2 oz. white rum
  • Spindrift (sparkling water) Raspberry Lime

Muddle the raspberries with fresh lime juice and sugar in your glass. Add mint leaves and mush them into the glass to release the minty goodness, then add crushed ice and rum. Top it off with a low-calorie soda, such as Spindrift’s Raspberry Lime, and garnish with whole raspberries, a sprig of mint, and a lime wheel.
