In recent year, Functional Fitness has been a hot topic in the fitness community. It has absolutely caught fire as the “new” thing when it comes to training. That’s a bit ironic to say the least considering it’s based on some of the oldest practices. Functional Fitness is exactly what it sounds like; training that serves to improve your function in everyday life. Think about it; if you’re having trouble getting your groceries up the stairs, wouldn’t it make sense to train for that by carrying weight through a room or on a stepmill? Functional fitness looks at the everyday activities of people and trains them specifically to improve those movements. This is what 5th gear is. Functional fitness to help you live.
So what can you expect from a 5th Gear class? Well, that’s harder to nail down. Our certified instructors always have something fun up their sleeves though. Recent times have seen classes where large exercises are broken down into their core components, Classes where you never put down your weight, and even times where 90% of the class is done on one foot. We can come up with just about anything for a 5th gear class, and it will always be a safe and effective function fitness workout. We plan on making you sweat, so if you want to work, come with us!
